Absences
If your child is going to be absent, then your child will need to find a time to come in before/after school and get caught up on work time missed. Due to the nature of our projects, we can not send projects home. This can be done before or after your return.
If work is due on a day that your child is absent, the work is due upon return.

Behavior
We have high expectations of your child. We have a very limited amount of time with your child, in the length of the class period and of the quarter. Due to this, behaviors that prevent our class from learning and using class time wisely will be dealt with in a variety of ways.
1. One-on-one conference - either at table or in our office
2. After school detention
3. Parent contact
4. Referral to the office
Grading
Our grading criteria is shared with students throughout the project. We have examples hanging up in our room. We hand out the self-reflection midway through a project. Students will self-evaluate their work and then the teacher will evaluate as well.
Grades at mid-quarter are not final. Expect grades to change, as many projects are in process or have not been started yet. Please know that we work right up to the end of the quarter. Therefore, many projects are not evaluated until the last week of the quarter.
Extra credit
We do not believe in extra credit. Students are given many opportunities to successfully complete the projects.
Late work
If a student does not turn work in on the assigned due date:
1. Student has been absent and an “in-class” project is due.
- He/she needs to create a plan with the teacher to complete work.
2. “In-class” project is due and student has been working, but works very slow.
- He/she needs to create a plan with the teacher to complete work.
3. “In-class” project is due and student did NOT use class time wisely.
- He/she can stay until duty hours are over.
4. “In-class” project is due and student chose not to come in before/after school and work, project will be graded “as is.”
5. No projects will be accepted after the end of the nine weeks.
