Art Goals
To provide learning opportunities for all students through a sequential program of art instruction integrating the learning processes of: Perceiving, Interpreting, Evaluating, and Connecting. Also, integrated into art instruction are the many different Technical and Creative, Cultural/Historical, Critical and Aesthetic aspects of art. As a result of participating in the art program, the student will be able to:
1. Use various media and techniques to create art forms that effectively convey ideas and intentions.
2. Develop an understanding for the various forms of art.
3. Develop an awareness of the cultural and historical impact on art.
4. Analyze artwork by applying aesthetic, historical, cultural and formal concepts to make a personal evaluation of their own and other artist’s work.
5. Integrate art into other fields of learning.
6. Explore personal creativity and innovation through art.
7. Develop critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills that carry over into life.
8. Express ideas, attitudes, and emotions through the making and discussing of art.
9. Recognize the intrinsic value in one’s own learning and creative process.
10. Develop an awareness of the interrelationships between nature, art, and the manmade environment.
11. Develop aesthetic and production skills necessary to be discerning audiences, producers, and consumers of art.
12. Develop self-management and discipline in one’s artwork.
